Eminium genus has some species known to contain calcium oxalate needles (raphides) which cause an extremely unpleasant sensation in the mouth & tongue if eaten especially if uncooked. Also contains glycosides & proteolytic enzymes associated with anticoagulant effect & which may potentiate the effect of blood thinning medications.
