Stellaria media contains saponins which can be toxic but are poorly absorbed by the body tending to pass through without causing harm. Broken down by thorough cooking but advisable not to eat large amounts. Report of paralysis attributed to excessive intake. Should not be used in pregnancy or lactation. Contains high nitrate levels.
